JOB OFFER: Administrative and archival management assistant, Arcmtl
DESCRIPTION
Candidate must be eligible for Emploi Québec job programs. The employee will assist in the administrative management of a non-profit organization (arcmtl.org) and its arts promotion projects (distroboto.com, expozine.ca). The employee will also assist in the the management of the organization’s archives, which include collections of thousands of publications, artistic works, recordings and related materials.
The candidate has a university degree in archival studies or library and information studies, and is looking for their first experience in the field of non-profit arts organizations in Montreal. The candidate must be familiar with the Montreal arts milieu, as this is the context in which the organization’s activities and collections are situated. The expected hourly wage is $11.50, 40 hours per week for 30 weeks. Expected start date: July 6, 2015, end date: January 29, 2016.
The candidate will work with the organization’s personnel and its archives management committee and follow its archival standards and protocols in assisting in the management of its collections.
The position will mainly involve working at the organization’s archive centre and will involve the following tasks, among others:
– Sorting and treatment of various holdings;
– Classification and organization of administrative documents;
– Treatment of digitized materials (conversion, metadata entry, cataloging);
– Preparation of audiovisual material (digitization, cataloging, etc.) for various projects and web sites.
The candidate must be familiar Office software and Acrobat. A working knowledge of graphic software like Photoshop or Lightroom is not mandatory but preferable.
