As part of the 2024 Montreal History Festival, local heritage organizations CIDIHCA, Afromusée, and ARCMTL are joining forces to present Afro-Montreal Nightlife Pop-Up. This pop-up exhibit dives deep into an often-overlooked aspect of Montreal’s history.
Since 2022, the three organizations have been collaborating on projects researching the history of Afro-Montreal’s cultural and nightlife scene. This free event will showcase a wide selection of documentation, making for an exceptional opportunity to discover this dynamic facet of Montreal cultural history.
Researchers and experts from all three institutions will be on hand during this festive event, featuring DJs and experts on Afrocanadian and Haitian music.
The event will also launch new online collections of publications, documentation and archives from Afro-Montreal.
Don’t miss this chance to discover and celebrate this rich Afro-Montreal heritage!
This event is made possible thanks to the support of the City of Montreal and the Government of Quebec through the program Patrimoines montréalais : une mise en valeur dans les quartiers and to Library and Archives Canada.
