ARCMTL and the Musée des Ondes Berliner are teaming up again to host Montreal’s annual Basement Tapes Day – Journée des Trouvailles Sonores. Free admission, Saturday, November 9 from 2 – 6 p.m., 1001 Lenoir.
ARCMTL presents a new online history of The New Penelope and its era, the legendary Montreal coffeehouse that in the 1960s hosted intimate performances by the likes of Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell, Robert Charlebois, Frank Zappa and many more ! More interviews and material related to the New Penelope and its era can be found on our Montreal Underground Origins website.
The annual Expozine international festival of independent publishing takes place from November 19 to 24.
ARCMTL has made a growing number of rare Montreal publications available in this collection on the Internet Archive, with recently added titles such as Voice of Montreal, Images, Virus and Pop Rock Jeunesse. More archival material can be found on our Youtube channel, including our playlist of ephemeral films and home movies; and the Montreal Sound Ark radio show on CKUT 90.3FM on Tuesdays from 9 – 11 p.m.
