Basement Tapes Day 2021
ARCMTL and the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner are joining forces again for the second annual Montreal edition of Basement Tapes Day (Journée des trouvailles sonores). Saturday November 13, 2 – 5 pm, free admission! 1001, rue Lenoir, local E-206 .
This year, we’ll be able to meet all together at the Museum! But for those who prefer not to attend, there will be a live streamed presentation at 3:30, the link for it is here.
Audio archivists and experts from both partner institutions will demonstrate how to listen to and digitize recordings in old or obsolete formats. From reel-to-reel tapes, wax cylinders, acetate discs and cassette tapes, don’t miss the chance to learn about these formats and listen to the sonic wonders they hold.
If you or your family has old audio recordings that you’re unable to play anymore, you can contact the team in advance to let us know what you have, so we can talk about that format and maybe even digitize some of it during Basement Tapes Day itself!
If you missed the first edition in 2020, you can see it on its Youtube playlist here.
